Glendene, Wilpshire, Blackburn
This grand Victorian villa on Knowsley Road was the home of Richard Thompson, cotton manufacturer and partner in the firm of Riley, Thompson and Company, with mills in Blackburn, Darwen and Clitheroe. He died there in 1924 at the age of 79, leaving more than £100,000 in his will. The house can still be seen today.
