Old Mill, Hurst Green
This is one of three bobbin mills that were in operation in the village. Handloom weaving and farming being the main industries in times past. Today Hurst Green is best known for Stonyhurst College public school, where Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a pupil. Hurst Green was home to the last woman to be hanged at Lancaster Castle. She poisoned her husband with arsenic.
